RBI releases framework for strengthening the grievance redress mechanism in banks
RBI had announced in the ‘Statement on Developmental and Regulatory Policies’ issued as part of the Monetary Policy statement dated December 4, 2020 that with a view to strengthen and improve the efficacy of the grievance redress mechanism of banks, a comprehensive framework will be put in place during January 2021. Reserve Bank of India imposes monetary penalty on Standard Chartered Bank - India
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated January 21, 2021, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹2 Crore (Rupees Two Crore only) on Standard Chartered Bank–India (the bank) for non-compliance with certain directions issued by RBI contained in the “Reserve Bank of India (Frauds - Classification and Reporting by commercial banks and select FIs) Directions 2016”. The penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers vested in RBI under the provisions of Section 47 A

RBI releases 2020 list of Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs)
SBI, ICICI Bank, and HDFC Bank continue to be identified as Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs), under the same bucketing structure as in the 2018 list of D-SIBs. The additional Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) requirement for D-SIBs was phased-in from April 1, 2016 and became fully effective from April 1, 2019. The additional CET1 requirement will be in addition to the capital conservation buffer. The list of D-SIBs is as follows: Bucket Banks Additional Common
