This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers conferred on RBI under the provisions of Section 47A(1)(c) read with Section 46(4)(i) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.

The Reserve Bank set up a Working Group to undertake a comprehensive review of trading and settlement timings of markets regulated by the Reserve Bank, as announced in the ‘Statement on Developmental and Regulatory Policies’ dated February 07, 2025. The Working Group was chaired by Shri Radha Shyam Ratho, Executive Director, RBI. It was tasked with reviewing existing market timings, identifying operational challenges, examining global practices and recommending the way forward.
