RBI imposes penalty on Vananchal Gramin Bank for violation of Branch Licensing Guidelines
The Reserve Bank of India has imposed a penalty of ` 50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand only) on Vananchal Gramin Bank, Dumka, Jharkhand in exercise of powers vested in it under provisions of Section 47A read with Section 46 (4) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, for violation of Branch Licensing Guidelines. RBI approves ING Vysya Bank Ltd.- Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. Amalgamation
The Reserve Bank of India has sanctioned the Scheme of Amalgamation of ING Vysya Bank Ltd. with Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. The Scheme has been sanctioned in exercise of the powers contained in Sub-section (4) of Section 44A of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. The Scheme will come into force with effect from April 1, 2015. The Reserve Bank of India has imposed a monetary penalty of ` 5.00 lakh (Rupees five lakh only) each on 16 Central Co-operative Banks listed below. RBI signs Currency Swap Agreement with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka
The Reserve Bank of India today signed the Currency Swap Agreement with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka can make drawals of US Dollar or Euro in multiple tranches up to a maximum of US$ 400 million or its equivalent. This is expected to further economic co-operation between the two countries. The agreement is valid for a period of three years from the date of signing. It may be recalled that in May 2012, the Governor, Reserve Bank of India

Pay IT dues in advance at RBI or at authorised bank branches
The Reserve Bank of India has appealed to income tax assessees to remit their income tax dues sufficiently in advance of the due date. It has also stated that assessees can use alternate channels like select branches of agency banks or the facility of online payment of taxes offered by these banks. These will obviate the inconvenience involved in standing in long queues at the Reserve Bank offices. It is observed that the rush for remitting Income –Tax dues through th

RBI signs MoU on “Supervisory Cooperation and Exchange of Supervisory Information” with Banco Central do Brasil
The Reserve Bank of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on “Supervisory Cooperation and Exchange of Supervisory Information” with Banco Central do Brasil (BCB) on December 26, 2014.
