The Reserve Bank of India issued Directions under Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, to Indian Mercantile Co-operative Bank Limited (IMCBL), Lucknow vide Directive DOS.CO.OCCD.185569/12.28.007/2021-22 dated January 28, 2022 for a period of six months upto July 27, 2022, as modified from time to time, which were last extended upto April 27, 2025 vide Directive DOR.MON/D-94/12.28.007/2024-25 dated January 16, 2025. The Reserve Bank of India is satisfied that in the public interest, it is necessary to further extend the period of operation of the Directive beyond April 27, 2025.
As announced vide the Press Release 2024-2025/1933 dated January 15, 2025, the Reserve Bank will be conducting daily Variable Rate Repo (VRR) auctions on all working days in Mumbai with reversal taking place on the next working day, until further notice.

The fifty fourth meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), constituted under Section 45ZB of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, was held during April 7 to 9, 2025. 2. The meeting was chaired by Shri Sanjay Malhotra, Governor and was attended by all the members – Dr. Nagesh Kumar, Director and Chief Executive, Institute for Studies in Industrial Development, New Delhi; Shri Saugata Bhattacharya, Economist, Mumbai; Professor Ram Singh, Director, Delhi School of Economics, Delhi; Dr. Rajiv Ranjan, Executive Director (the officer of the Reserve Bank nominated by the Central Board under Section 45ZB(2)(c) of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934), and Shri M Rajeshwar Rao, Deputy Governor in charge of monetary policy.

The Central Government has re-appointed Shri T. Rabi Sankar as Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India for a period of one year with effect from May 03, 2025, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
In terms of GOI Notification F. No.4(25)-W&M/2017 dated October 06, 2017 (SGB 2017-18 Series IV-Issue date October 23, 2017) and GOI Notification F. No.4(22)-W&M/2018 dated October 08, 2018 (SGB 2018-19 Series II-Issue date October 23, 2018) on Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme, premature redemption of Gold Bond may be permitted after fifth year from the date of issue of such Gold Bond on the date on which interest is payable. Accordingly, the next due date of premature redemption of the above tranche shall be April 23, 2025.

The Reserve Bank of India is satisfied that in the public interest, it is necessary to further extend the period of operation of the Directive beyond close of business on April 22, 2025.
