The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had announced the withdrawal of ₹2000 denomination banknotes from circulation vide Press Release 2023-2024/257 dated May 19, 2023. The status of withdrawal of ₹2000 banknotes has been periodically published by the RBI. 2. The facility for deposit and / or exchange of the ₹2000 banknotes was available at all bank branches in the country initially upto September 30, 2023, which was later extended upto October 07, 2023.

Reddy, Governor. Except for the change in the inset letter, the design of these notes to be issued now is similar in all respects to the banknotes issued earlier in Mahatma Gandhi Series with additional/new security features issued on October 21,

All notes in the denomination of Rs.10 issued by the Reserve Bank will continue to be legal tender

In order to mitigate the hardships faced by the members of the public in obtaining coins, the Reserve Bank of India has made special arrangements to make available coins upto Rs.800/- packets in 'potlas' of 100 pieces each of Rs.1/-, Rs.2/- and Rs.5/- & coins in exchange at the premises of Lions Club of Marol Service Centre, A.K. Road, Marol, Andheri (East) on 26th November 2002. Members of public desirous of obtaining the coins may avail of the facility at above
