RBI clarifies on safe custody of its gold reserves
We have come across reports in certain sections of the print and social media regarding RBI shifting abroad a part of its gold holding in 2014. It is a normal practice for Central Banks world over, to keep their gold reserves overseas with Central Banks of other countries like Bank of England for safe custody. Reserve Bank of India imposes monetary penalty on Western Union Financial Services Inc. and MoneyGram Payment Systems Inc.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, vide orders dated April 20, 2018, imposed monetary penalty of ₹ 29,66,959/- and ₹ 10,11,653/- on Western Union Financial Services Inc., USA and MoneyGram Payment Systems Inc., USA, respectively, for non-compliance of regulatory guidelines. These penalties have been imposed in exercise of the powers vested in RBI under the provisions of Section 31 of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007 for compounding of the contraventions.

RBI Introduces ₹ 20 banknote in Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series
The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue ₹ 20 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, bearing signature of Shri Shaktikanta Das, Governor, Reserve Bank of India. The new denomination has motif of Ellora Caves on the reverse, depicting the country's cultural heritage. The base colour of the note is Greenish Yellow. Reserve Bank of India releases Annual Report of the Banking Ombudsman Scheme 2006
The Reserve Bank of India, today, released the Annual Report of the Banking Ombudsman Scheme for the year 2017-18. Highlights The 21 Offices of the Banking Ombudsman received 1,63,590 complaints in the year 2017-18 marking an increase of 24.9% over previous year. Offices of Banking Ombudsman maintained a disposal rate of 96.5% as compared to 92.0% in the previous year.
