Performance of Private Corporate Business Sector during Q2:2024-25

Today, the Reserve Bank released data on the performance of the private corporate sector during the second quarter of 2024-25, drawn from abridged quarterly financial results of 2,911 listed non-government non-financial companies. Quarterly BSR-2: Deposits with Scheduled Commercial Banks - September 2024

Today, the Reserve Bank released the web publication ‘Deposits with Scheduled Commercial Banks – September 2024 ’ on its ‘Database on Indian Economy’ portal (https://data.rbi.org.in Homepage > Publications). Scheduled commercial banks (SCBs) {excluding regional rural banks (RRBs)} report branch-wise data on type of deposits (current, savings and term), its institutional sector wise ownership, age wise distribution of deposits pertaining to individuals, maturity pattern, size and interest rate range wise distribution of term deposits as well as number of employees in the quarterly ‘Basic Statistical Return’ (BSR) - 2 return. These data are released at disaggregated level (viz., population groups , bank groups, states, districts and centres).

Report on Municipal Finances

Today, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released the Report on Municipal Finances. The Report with the theme “Own Sources of Revenue Generation in Municipal Corporations: Opportunities and Challenges” presents an analysis of the budgetary data for 232 municipal corporations (MCs), which covers more than 90 per cent of total MCs in the country. It may be recalled that the Reserve Bank had released its maiden Report on Municipal Finances in November 2022 followed by a study on the Finances of Panchayati Raj Institutions in January 2024.

Today, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released the Report on Municipal Finances. RBI launches the November 2024 round of the Inflation Expectations Survey of Households

The Reserve Bank of India has been regularly conducting Inflation Expectations Survey of Households (IESH). The November 2024 round of the survey is being launched. The survey aims at capturing subjective assessments on price movements and inflation, based on their individual consumption baskets, across 19 cities, viz., Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi and Thiruvananthapuram.

Survey on International Trade in Banking Services, 2023-24

Today, the Reserve Bank released the results of 2023-24 round of its survey on international trade in banking services (ITBS). This annual survey focuses on cross-border fund-based banking services (e.g., deposits, credit) as well as financial auxiliary services with explicit/implicit fees/commissions charged by foreign branches/ subsidiaries (including joint ventures) of Indian banks as well as foreign banks operating in India (details of the services are given in the Annex). The latest round of the survey covers 14 Indian banks having overseas branches/subsidiaries and 45 foreign banks having branches/subsidiaries in India.

Launching of Quarterly Industrial Outlook Survey (IOS): October-December 2024 Round 108

The Reserve Bank has launched the 108th round of the quarterly Industrial Outlook Survey (IOS) of the Indian manufacturing sector for the reference period October-December 2024. The survey assesses business sentiment for the current quarter (Q3:2024-25) and expectations for the ensuing quarter (Q4:2024-25), based on qualitative responses on a set of indicators pertaining to demand conditions, financial conditions, employment conditions and the price situation. The outlook on key parameters for the two subsequent quarters (Q1:2025-26 and Q2:2025-26) are also covered.

Census on Foreign Liabilities and Assets of Indian Direct Investment Entities for 2023-24

Today, the Reserve Bank released the provisional results of the 2023-24 round of the annual census on foreign liabilities and assets (FLA) covering cross-border liabilities and assets of the entities {viz., companies, limited liability partnerships (LLPs), alternative investment funds (AIFs) and partnership firms} with inward/outward direct investment (DI). Out of the 41,653 entities which responded in the latest census, 37,407 reported foreign direct investment (FDI) and/or overseas direct investment (ODI) in their balance sheet for March 2024. Of these entities, 29,926 had also reported in the previous census round and 7,481 have newly reported in the current round. Over three-fourths of the companies that reported inward direct investment were subsidiaries of foreign companies (i.e., single foreign investor holding more than 50 per cent of total equity).
