Key Features of India’s IIP in end-September 2025: • Net claims of non-residents on India declined by US$ 38.4 billion during Q2:2025-26 and stood at US$ 274.3 billion as at end-September 2025. It was a combined impact of decrease in foreign-owned assets in India (US$ 29.8 billion) and increase in Indian residents’ overseas financial assets (US$ 8.6 billion) during the quarter (Table 1).

Key Features of India’s IIP in end-June 2025: • Net claims of non-residents on India declined by US$ 16.4 billion during Q1:2025-26 and stood at US$ 312.8 billion as at end-June 2025. It was mainly due to higher rise in Indian residents’ overseas financial assets (US$ 47.8 billion) as compared to the foreign-owned assets in India (US$ 31.4 billion) (Table 1).

The stock of external debt at end-June 2025 as well as revised data for earlier quarters are set out in Statements I (IMF format ) and II (old format). The major developments relating to India’s external debt as at end-June 2025 are presented below. Highlights • At end-June 2025, India’s external debt was placed at US$ 747.2 billion, an increase of US$ 11.2 billion over its level at end-March 2025 (Table 1).

In due course, the flow of shipping bills from the Customs Authority has been automated through ICEGATE and from January, 2022, data from ECCS (Express Cargo Clearance System) also started flowing into EDPMS. Further, postal exports bill data also started flowing into EDPMS from January, 2025.
