Lending and Deposit Rates of Scheduled Commercial Banks - May 2023
Data on lending and deposit rates of scheduled commercial banks (SCBs) (excluding regional rural banks and small finance banks) for the month of May 2023. Highlights: Lending Rates: The weighted average lending rate (WALR) on fresh rupee loans of SCBs decreased by 23 basis points (bps) from 9.32 per cent in March 2023 to 9.09 per cent in April 2023. Reserve Bank launches ‘100 Days 100 Pays’ Campaign for Return of Unclaimed Deposits
Balances in savings / current accounts which are not operated for 10 years, or term deposits not claimed within 10 years from date of maturity are classified as “Unclaimed Deposits”. These amounts are transferred by banks to “Depositor Education and Awareness” (DEA) Fund maintained by the Reserve Bank of India. The Reserve Bank, from time to time, through its public awareness initiatives, has been encouraging members of public to identify and approach the bank concern

Review of Requirement of Counter-Cyclical Capital Buffer

RBI releases ‘Draft Guidelines on Minimum Capital Requirements for Market Risk - under Basel III’
As part of convergence of the Reserve Bank’s regulations for banks with Basel III standards, the Reserve Bank of India has today placed on its website ‘Draft Guidelines for Minimum Capital Requirements for Market Risk’ for comments of stakeholders and members of the public. These guidelines shall be applicable to all Commercial Banks (excluding Local Area Banks, Payments Banks, Regional Rural Banks and Small Finance Banks) and shall come into effect from April 1, 2024
As part of convergence of the Reserve Bank’s regulations for banks with Basel III standards, the Reserve Bank of India has today placed on its website ‘Draft Guidelines for Minimum Capital Requirements for Market Risk’ for comments of stakeholders and members of the public. RBI releases 2022 list of Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs)
State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, and HDFC Bank continue to be identified as Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs), under the same bucketing structure as in the 2021 list of D-SIBs. The additional Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) requirement for D-SIBs was phased-in from April 1, 2016 and became fully effective from April 1, 2019. Lending and Deposit Rates of Scheduled Commercial Banks - September 2022
Data on lending and deposit rates of scheduled commercial banks (SCBs) (excluding regional rural banks and small finance banks) for the month of September 2022. Highlights Lending Rates: The weighted average lending rate (WALR) on fresh rupee loans of SCBs increased by 15 basis points (bps) from 8.18 per cent in July 2022 to 8.33 per cent in August 2022. The WALR on outstanding rupee loans of SCBs increased by 14 bps from 8.99 per cent to 9.13 per cent in August 2022.
