RBI caution about reproduction of Currency Notes
It has come to the notice of the Reserve Bank of India that toys with the reproduction of bank notes of Rs.1, 2, 5 and 50 are being sold in the market. The Reserve Bank has cautioned the members of public that reproduction of bank notes and selling/possessing the toys/items looking like bank notes is an offence under the law. RBI directs all bank branches to accept Rs. 500 notes
The Reserve Bank of India has today issued a circular to all commercial and cooperative banks clarifying that all Rs. 500 notes continue to be legal tender and should, therefore, be accepted for all transactions.
