RBI cautions Public about Unauthorised Companies collecting Deposits
The Reserve Bank of India has today cautioned members of public about unauthorised companies which collect money from public stating that they have been authorised by the Reserve Bank to do so. The Reserve Bank stated that it has published on its website (http://rbi.org.in/scripts/BS_NBFCList.aspx) a list of non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) which are permitted to accept deposits. Restrictive practices while accepting bank notes
It has come to the notice of the Reserve Bank of India that certain establishments are adopting restrictive practices such as not accepting notes of certain denominations or series etc. The Reserve Bank of India, therefore considers it necessary to emphasise that all government/semi-government offices, public/ private sector institutions and also any other organisation/establishment/ individual accepting cash should desist from such practices. Collateral facility extended for Savings Bonds

Frequently Asked Questions under the Liberalized Remittance Scheme – Reserve Bank’s Response
The Reserve Bank of India had announced a Liberalized Remittance Scheme (the Scheme) in February 2004 as a step towards further simplification and liberalization of the foreign exchange facilities available to resident individuals. As per the Scheme, resident individuals may remit up to USD 100,000 per financial year for any permitted capital and current account transactions. The Scheme was operationalised vide A.P. (DIR Series) Circular No. 64 dated February 4, 2004.
