RBI to issue Rs.10 denomination banknotes with inset letter "M"
The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue Rs.10 denomination banknotes with inset letter 'M' in both numbering panels in Mahatma Gandhi Series with additional/new security features bearing the signature of Dr. Y.V. Reddy, Governor. Except for the change in the inset letter, the design of these notes to be issued now is similar in all respects to the banknotes issued earlier in Mahatma Gandhi Series with additional/new security features issued on April 27, 2006. Misuse of banknotes
It has been brought to the Bank's notice that members of public, institutions and others continue to write messages etc. on the watermark window and deface the portraits etc. on the banknotes. The Bank wishes to reiterate that such practices work against the Clean Note Policy of the Bank. All members of public, institutions and others are, therefore, advised not to write/inscribe anything whatsoever on the banknotes. Ajit Prasad ManagerPress Release : 2007-2008/473

Availability of Coins
The Reserve Bank of India has been receiving complaints from some quarters about inadequate availability of coins. The Reserve Bank clarifies that there is no shortage of coins and members of public, shops and commercial establishments can obtain their coin requirements from its Regional Offices or from designated branches of commercial banks. In case of difficulties/problems in this regard, members of public and others can approach the Regional Directors of the conce

Re.1, Rs.2 and Rs.5 notes - Not being withdrawn from circulation: Clarifies RBI
The Reserve Bank has received reports that doubts are being raised among members of public regarding the validity/acceptability of Re.1, Rs.2 and Rs.5 notes. The Bank wishes to clarify that although the printing of Re.1, Rs.2 and Rs.5 notes has been discontinued, the notes of these denominations issued earlier will continue to be legal tender. These notes are not being withdrawn from circulation. All concerned may, therefore, continue to accept and use Re.1, Rs.2 and
