RBI announces Reduction in CRR for Liquidity Management
On October 6, 2008 the Reserve Bank of India announced a reduction of the cash reserve ratio (CRR) for scheduled banks by 50 basis points to 8.5 per cent of net demand and time liabilities (NDTL) with effect from the fortnight beginning October 11, 2008. RBI and 965 branches of Banks to accept Advance Income Tax
As many as 965 computerised branches of public and private sector banks will receive advance income tax in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. These arrangements have been made for the convenience of the income tax assesses. The Reserve Bank of India has sanctioned the Scheme of Amalgamation of Centurion Bank of Punjab Ltd. with HDFC Bank Ltd.
