Ease of Doing Business in India: RBI seeks Stakeholders’ Views on Proposed Change in Forex Rules to mandate Demat holding of Securities by Non-residents
It is proposed to amend the Foreign Exchange Management (Transfer or issue of security by a person resident outside India) Regulations, 2000 to mandate that foreign investment by non-residents, including non-resident Indians on repatriation basis, can be made in equity, debt and any other approved securities only in dematerialised form. Consequently, the depositories, namely, the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) and the Central Depository Services (India)

RBI signs Special Currency Swap Agreement with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka

FIIs/RFPIs can now invest up to 49 per cent under PIS in M/s SeQuent Scientific Limited
The Reserve Bank of India has today notified that Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs)/Registered Foreign Portfolios Investors (RFPIs) can now invest up to 49 per cent of the paid up capital of M/s SeQuent Scientific Limited under the Portfolio Investment Scheme (PIS). Further the Reserve Bank has notified that since the holding limit is increased to 49 per cent, the earlier limit of 32.46 per cent as notified vide Press Release No.2014-2015/2410 dated May 14, 2015
