Rejection of application for certificate of registration
The Reserve Bank of India, in exercise of the powers conferred on it under Section 45 IA of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, has rejected on November 2, 2001 the application for certificate of registration submitted by M/s. Sunderban Dealers Pvt. Ltd., 168/A, Cotton Street, 4th Floor, Kolkata-700 007. As such, the above company cannot transact the business of a non-banking financial institution as defined in Clause (a) of Section 45 IA of the Reserve Bank of India

RBI lowers Ceiling on NBFC Deposit Rates
The Reserve Bank of India today announced a revision in the maximum rate of interest which the non-banking financial companies can offer on their public deposits. Taking into account the market conditions and changes in other interest rates in the system, the maximum rate of interest that NBFCs can pay on their public deposits has been reduced, effective from November 1, 2001 from 14 per cent to 12.5 per cent per annum.
